Chief Executive Officer Jeff Mathis OTR, OTD, CHT
Doctor of Occupational Therapy & Certified Hand Therapist
A native of Junction City, Kansas, Jeff attended Kansas State University, University of Kansas, and University of Kansas Medical Center, receiving his bachelor of Occupational Therapy in 1988. He has worked as a contract provider to hospitals, as well as a private practice owner for over 29 years. Jeff received CHT (certified hand therapist) certification in 2004, and completed his doctoral degree at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2007. Jeff has specialized in the treatment of various upper extremity and hand conditions for over 15 years. In his spare time he enjoys golfing.
Adam Braxmeyer Executive Vice President
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Adam is the Executive Vice President at Mathis Rehab Centers, LLC. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Creighton University in 2002. Adam exhibits a passion for ensuring high quality patient care with an emphasis on patient satisfaction and functional outcomes. He believes in the importance of being a lifelong learner and continuous process improvement. Throughout his professional career, he has had the opportunity to serve in many roles (Physical Therapist, Regional Manager, Chief Operating Officer) that have allowed him to become well versed in accomplishing a wide breadth and depth of organizational objectives. This serves him well in his current role as he helps support Mathis Rehab Centers health care services and providers. In his spare time, he enjoys spending
time with his family, particularly attending his three sons’ youth sporting events.
Michael DeDonder PT, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Michael joined the Mathis team in June of 2014 following physical therapy school at KU Medical Center in Kansas City. Prior to PT school, he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Kinesiology from Kansas State University in 2009 and 2011, respectively. He has completed the Therapeutic Pain Specialist (TPS) Certification through the International Spine and Pain Institute. Michael was raised in Emporia, but has always been a K-State fan – going to games since he was an infant.
Michael brings his energetic and upbeat personality to treatment sessions. He is focused on current practices and research to provide the best care for each of his patients. Michael is Astym certified and actively pursues continuing education courses to further his knowledge. He enjoys treating all types of people, but has an interest in young athletes, low back pain, neck pain, pain science, and post-surgical patients. Michael would be happy to help in any way he can to make you a better version of you!
Orgene DesCoteaux CPTA
Physical Therapist Assistant
Orgene is originally from Clifton, Kansas. He received his BS in Exercise Sciences in 1992 from Kansas State University. He received his Associate of Applied Science Degree to become a Physical Therapy Assistant from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 1999. Since obtaining licensure to be a Physical Therapy Assistant, Orgene has gained extensive experience in variety of Physical Therapy Settings which include private outpatient practices, inpatient/outpatient hospital units, home health, and skilled nursing facilities. Orgene joined Mathis Rehab Centers in April 2012. Orgene is a Certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner.
Jayme Elliott Director of Human Resources
Jayme Elliott is the director of Human Resources for Mathis Rehab Centers, LLC. She received her master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Kansas State University in 2014. Jayme is a graduate of The University of Georgia Leadership certificate program. Jayme has a wide variety of expertise in non-profit management; with 20 years experience managing two successful non-profit programs. Jayme is proud to work for Mathis Rehab Centers, LLC as the company grows. Jayme considers our staff to be our most valuable asset. She believes that Human Resources provides the link between Mathis management and its employee family, from Emporia to Manhattan. In her spare time, Jayme loves to spend time with her family, traveling, exploring all things historical, antiquing, and reading a good book!
Tony Hentzen DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
A native of Seward, Nebraska, Tony received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2008. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2013. Tony is passionate about implementing evidence-based practice, focusing on injury prevention, and promoting healthy lifestyles in order to improve the quality of life for his patients. Tony has advanced training in therapeutic dry needling. Tony is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association as well as the Kansas Physical Therapy Association. Tony has worked in both Omaha, NE and Kansas City before he joined the Mathis physical therapy team in 2017.
Jessica Husman OT
Jessica and her husband moved to Kansas in March 2016, originally from Sioux Falls, SD. Jessica received her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2011 from the University of Sioux Falls. She then went on to earn her Doctorate of Occupational therapy degree from Creighton University, graduated in December 2015. Jessica is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT), a Parkinson’s Disease treatment and IASTM. Jessica has a special interest in hand therapy and the upper extremity. Jessica enjoys running, crafting, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and her 2 labradoodle dogs.
Kelli Pettijohn CPTA

Kelli is originally from Brookville, KS and graduated from Kansas State University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science. After moving to Montana after graduation, Kelli went back to school at Montana State University of Great Falls where she earned her Associate of Applied Science to become a Physical Therapist Assistant in 2013. Since then, Kelli has worked in numerous physical therapy settings including outpatient, skilled nursing, acute care, and aquatic. In her spare time, Kelli enjoys cycling, riding horses, going to K-State sporting events, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
Trent Terrill DPT

A native of Smith Center, KS, Trent received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Bethany College in 2013. He went on to the University of Kansas Medical Center to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2016. Trent is a member of both the American Physical Therapy Association and the Kansas Physical Therapy Association. He has experience in outpatient orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, acute inpatient rehab and pediatric care. He has plans to continue his education to expand his orthopedics expertise through a variety of continuing education courses. His special interests are sports rehab and post-op care.

Christiana is a native of Abilene, Kansas. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from Kansas State University in 2003 and a Masters of Occupational Therapy from Rockhurst University in 2006. Christiana has received clinical training at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri and mentorship study with Lucy Jane Miller at the STAR Center for Sensory Processing in Denver, Colorado. She is also certified in Sensory Feeding Therapy. Christiana has worked with pediatrics in both school based and outpatient based settings and was practicing pediatric outpatient therapy at the Tulsa Sunshine Center in Broken Arrow, Ok. Prior to moving back to Kansas. She specializes in treatment and regulation for children on the Autism Spectrum, with sensory processing deficits, ADHD/ADD and with sensory feeding difficulties. She also has experience with developmental delays, behavioral disorders, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, torticollis and brachial plexus injuries. Christiana and her husband Max live in Wamego, Kansas with their two children, Hazel and Cooper.

Sara is a native of North Florida/Southern Alabama. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Florida State University in 2003. She then received her Masters degree in Psychology, with a specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida State University in 2006. Sara worked with adults with developmental disabilities for 3 years in the community and at Sunland Marianna, a residential facility. She then received clinical training in using The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R) for 7 months at Brilliant Minds in Destin, FL. She has worked with children with Autism and other developmental delays in schools, homes, and clinical settings for the past 5 years. Sara lives in Manhattan with her son Zayd and daughter Ziah.

Kylene was born and raised in Montana. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Montana in 2012. She has worked with children and adults with autism and mental health diagnoses in homes, group homes, and crisis houses for the past 5 years. She enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, playing cards, and hanging out with her cat, Monster.
Petra Crosby MOT, OTR/L
Petra is a native of Junction City, Kansas. She received a Bachelors in Occupational Science from The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2002 and a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2004. Petra has worked in a variety of pediatric settings. She received clinical training in Southeast Kansas Birth to Three program. Petra then started her Occupational Therapy career at the Sherwood Center for the Exceptional Child in Kansas City, MO providing school and home based services for children with the primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. She then went on to work as a pediatric therapist at The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City working with children with a variety of neurological disabilities ranging from traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, stroke, spinal cord injury, autism, and sensory processing disorders. Petra developed therapy camps focusing in constraint induced movement therapy for preschool age, school age, and adolescents. She has had specialized training in Kinesio Taping, Constraint Induced Movement Therapy, Saeboflex, Theratogs, and Interactive Metronome. Petra has presented at The Brain Injury Association of Kansas 2012 Annual Conference on the topic of Sensory Processing. Petra returned to the area to work at Irwin Army Community Hospital in Fort Riley, Kansas to supervise an Occupational Therapy clinic for the Warrior Transition Battalion. She developed an all encompassing program to address the psychosocial needs for Soldiers dealing with anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, and traumatic brain injuries in the transitional phase of their Army career. Petra and her husband Marc live in Manhattan, Kansas with their two children Ayla and Kord.

Payden is a Dodge City, Kansas native. He received his Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology with a secondary major in Gerontology from Kansas State University in 2012. He then obtained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from University of Kansas Medical Center in 2015. Payden has clinical experience in outpatient orthopedic, inpatient acute and pediatric physical therapy settings through clinical affiliations. In his spare time, Payden enjoys attending K-State football games, tailgating, and hanging out with his dog, Foster.

Emily is a Manhattan, Kansas native. She received a Bachelor of General Studies degree in Speech-Language and Hearing from the University of Kansas in 2009. She received her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Kansas in 2011. Emily received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2012 and remains an active member. She is also an active member of the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA). Emily has 3 years of experience working with school-age children with a variety of communication disorders. She completed several clinical placements during her graduate school training working with children and adults in outpatient clinics, preschools and elementary schools, as well as a skilled nursing facility. Emily has special interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She participated on a Communication, Autism and Technology Project during her training at the University of Kansas. Her participation included additional focused coursework and field experiences with augmentative and alternative communication and autism. Emily returned to Manhattan after completing her education in 2011. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading and participating in community activities.

Shauni is a native of Abilene, Kansas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech-Language and Hearing from the University of Kansas in 2013. She received her Master of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology from Fort Hays State University in 2015. Shauni completed her clinical training in elementary schools, outpatient clinics, and a rehabilitation hospital during graduate school. She is currently completing the requirements to receive her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Association. Shauni enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and watching and participating in sports.
Alexandra Jones MOT, OTR/L
Alex was born and raised in Winfield, KS. She received a Bachelors of Occupational Science with a minor in Psychology from the University of Kansas is 2012 and a Masters of Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2014. Alex has worked in early childhood development centers for over 2 years, working with children of all different abilities. She has 3 years experience working in an outpatient therapy setting as a therapy technician and water aerobics instructor. She received clinical training at St. Luke’s hospital in the rehabilitation unit and Operation Breakthrough, an early childhood development center, providing occupational therapy services in a school based setting to children ages newborn to 5 years old. During her coursework she participated in a service learning project at CHAMPS karate school, a program that provides karate lessons to children with special needs. Alex, along with several peers, was awarded the University of Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary Grant in 2012 to buy equipment that supported children’s participation at CHAMPS. Alex and her husband Garrett live in the Manhattan area and enjoy cheering on the KU Jayhawks.
Gilbert Magallanes COTA
Gilbert is originally from Lakin, KS. He graduated from Newman University in 2016 as an Occupational Therapy Assistant with an Associate of Science degree. He gained experience in pediatrics while completing a level II fieldwork in a pediatrics school-based setting working with developmental delays, Autism, down syndrome, and physical disabilities. His hobbies include spending time with friends and family, watching the Boston Red Sox, and attending K-State sporting events.
Leslie McCutchen CCC-SLP

Leslie is a Pretty Prairie, Kansas native. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Kansas State University in 2008. She received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Fort Hays State University in 2011. Leslie received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2012 and remains an active member. During graduate school Leslie completed clinical hours at an outpatient clinic working with children and adults, as well as clinical externships in the schools (elementary and middle) and at an outpatient rehabilitation clinic. Leslie has 4 years experience working in skilled nursing facilities where she provided inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, and home health services. She has received specialized training in E-Stim (electrical stimulation) for the treatment of dysphagia. In her free time Leslie enjoys spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, and traveling.

Lisa is a native of Harrison, Michigan. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Avila University in 2012. She then received her Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 2015. Lisa completed her practicum training at The Arc of the Ozarks in Springfield, Missouri. Lisa has worked with children and adults with autism and other developmental delays in schools, homes, and residential settings for the past 3 years. Lisa’s primary interests are the assessment and treatment of problem behavior and caregiver training. Lisa lives in Maple Hill, Kansas with her fiancé, Aaron. In her spare time, she enjoys working with cattle, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Karen is a Salina, Kansas native. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Science and Disorder from Kansas State University in 2005. She received her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2007. Karen received her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in 2008 and continues to maintain her certification along with her membership to the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA). Karen has 7 years of pediatric experience working with children with a variety of communication disorders in school-based settings (preschool-high school) as well as home-based early intervention. Her special interest areas are Autism Spectrum Disorders, Phonological Disorders, and Central Auditory Processing Disorder. Karen and her husband, Jordan, live in Manhattan and enjoy sporting events, spending time outdoors, and traveling.

Laura is a native of Upton, Massachusetts. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Behavioral Science from the University of Kansas in 2016. At the University of Kansas, Laura served on two research teams specializing in pediatric feeding disorders and completed three practica in the Little Steps ABA Early Intervention Program and the Kansas Early Autism Program (KEAP). She also spent a summer completing an internship at the New England Center for Children, a school for children diagnosed with autism outside of Boston. Laura lives in Manhattan and enjoys spending time with friends and family, being with her dog, drinking coffee, crafting, and watching Boston sports.
